This space is going to be used for blogs concerning updates to The Conscious Resistance Network, as well as a personal blog for yours truly.
I have recently decided to limit my use of social media, specifically facebook, so I can focus on my daily writing and research (more on that in a moment!). So if you were friends with me on facebook and appreciate my daily rants, positive affirmations, and musings please consider bookmarking this page to keep up with my thoughts.
If you are interested in why exactly I would choose to break from the all-encompassing facebook give this video a look. Now that that’s out of the way let me share some of my thoughts with you….
I mentioned I have been writing and researching, so what exactly am I researching you ask?
For the last 6 months I have been working on a “mind map” of the history and intersections of Anarchist, Socialist, and Communist philosophies. A mind map is a visual representation of your thoughts and ideas on a particular topic or group of topics. For mine I have posterboards on my wall which list a particular philosopher, their birth and death dates, their philosophical contributions and ideas, and any relevant books or essays they wrote. I start with French Anarchist philosopher Pierre-Joseph Proudhon in 1809 and go on through the birth of Socialism, Communism, Anarcho-Communism, American Anarchism, and finish with current thinkers and philosophies.
The reason I tell you this is because I am attempting to better understand my own views on a wide variety of topics, including property, government, community organization, morality and much more. I want to understand each of these positions and the people behind the ideas so I can more accurately understand my own ideas.
I am learning so much information and history and I am loving it! I am a total nerd for this kind of thing but my social life may be suffering slightly. 🙂 Much of this research helped me with my recent talk at Libertyfest NYC 2015 where I discuss the possibility of alliances between radical anti-authoritarian thinkers across the political spectrum. As of late I have been focusing on Josiah Warren, the first American Individualist Anarchist. Warren was born in the late 18th century and made some powerful, but often forgotten, contributions to modern Libertarian and Anarchist thought. I won’t tell you much more about him but be on the lookout for a video on Josiah Warren within the next week!
All this research will actually help me in another project I am working on, my next book! You may have heard the announcement that John Vibes and I are working on two more books to complete The Conscious Resistance trilogy. The second book is tentatively titled, “Finding Freedom in an Age of Confusion” and will feature a collection of original essays elaborating upon the points we made in the first book. In my spare time away from the distractions of social media I am starting to edit John’s essays and write my own! Stay tuned for updates on the second book and be sure to download our first book for FREE!
I think that’s all I have for now. I am going to see a performance of Peter Pan tonight and I need to get dressed. I have always loved Peter Pan because I see the importance of staying connected to your inner child. Don’t forget how important it is to look at the world with wonder and in awe of the great mystery that encompasses our experience on this planet!
Thanks for reading guys, I hope you will bookmark this page and have a dialogue with me. Enjoy your weekend.
